FlexAble homes gurantee sustainability throughout the lifespan of each unit, from using sustainable and locally sourced materials in construction, ensuring properties are adaptable with minimal loss of building fabric and providing homes with almost 100% energy efficiency.
Each unit accords to the fundamental core design principles of sustainable new buildings as stipulated within the Life Cycle Assessment for buildings, creating homes that support a greener lifestyle.
Our building materials have been carefully selected based on their low carbon footprint in transportation and manufacturing, using locally sourced materials whereever possible. Buildings up to 5 floors will generally be constructed using a timber frame, having a global carbon footprint of 1%. Buildings over this height will user low-carbon steel, giving us the potential to deliver unrestricted building heights.
Our homes will use high-efficiency water heaters, enabling us to heat only the water we use, reducing energy demands by up to 50%. This standalone item removes the need for a traditional boiler, hot water cyclinder, and the majority of pipework installation, making it a sustainable and cost-effective choice that naturally reduces water consumption.
FlexAble housing is designed to work at an energy efficiency of almost 100%, with thermal performance, airtightness and acoustic performance exceeding Passivhaus standards. Reducing the requirement for heating, as units will retain heat for far longer than traditionally constructed homes. All service installations will run off renewable energy supplies, allowing for an environmentally friendly lifestyle and reducing energy bills.
